The classroom is all ready. Now, it's time to meet the learners!
Meet the Learners
I was so excited to meet these kiddos. By the look on their faces and the glow in their eyes, I know they are ready for a wonderful year.
Our First Family Picture
The first week of school, we sat in a circle and used a ball of yarn to share our name and our favorite ice cream flavor. Much to their surprise, at the end we actually made a huge web. I used this visual to share with the children how what we do and the the decisions we make in our class community affect all of us. Even the positive decisions. We talked about being a strong team (holding the yarn taught), or weak, when we give up. It was a great way to discuss community and the very important part we all play in our class.
We have a new friend who is learning to be a teacher. Miss Horton was a first grader in Mrs. Herrera's class many years ago. It was so fun for all of us!

Our First Grade Retreat- Healing the Little Hurts
This is such a sweet moment when everyone wanted to feel the baby move. She loved hearing their voices and feeling their loving touch.
Mrs. Herrera is back and it's time for a Birthday Party for Jesus!
CENTERS, PARTNER WORK and FUN... OH MY!!
What color is "flesh"? There really isn't just 1 color for flesh. We had many conversationsabout the beauty of differences and when we are looking for "skin" color in our crayon box, it can be many different shades.
Field Day 2019
The class was so supportive and loving during field day. They cheered for each other, picked each other up and had a wonderful time. I could not be prouder to be their teacher.
